25 health and life cheat codes I know at 36 that I wish I knew at 20
Stop using your workouts to burn fat. Use them to build muscle and get strong.
Quit porn. It’s not only sin that is separating you from God but it’s terrible for relationships, your brain, your sexual satisfaction, and your view of women. But most of all, go read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
Hydrate first thing and delay coffee 90 minutes after waking. You’ll have better energy all day.
Tape your mouth at night, and learn to breathe out of your nose all day. It’s better for your heart, your brain, your energy, and more.
Eat 1 gram of protein per pound of your ideal goal weight.
Eat whole foods, preferably more meat and fruit.
Transforming your nutrition and workout habits = a transformed mood.
You can delay aging (and sometimes reverse it) by implementing the right changes to your lifestyle, diet, sleep, and other biohacking-type measures.
Your parents probably did the best they could with the circumstances life gave them, the baggage they’re carrying, and what they were taught. Forgiveness is about freeing yourself from the bitterness that’s eating away at you, it’s not about “letting them off the hook”. It’s mostly hurting you to harbor unforgiveness. Also the Bible tells us if you forgive others, the God will do the same with you. (Mark 11:25)
On that note, call your parents. Spend time with them. Honor them - no matter what they did there are ways you can honor them. Read Deuteronomy 5:16.
Use habit development tactics to build and stick to a budget and tell your money where to go. I wish I had started this at 18 instead of back when I was 26. Those 8 years make a massive difference. But there is still time.
Focus on building things. A family. Ministry efforts. Assets. Businesses. Friendships. A network. Etc. Don’t be a consumer, be a builder.
Focus on helping as many people as possible, and you’ll end up having everything you need.
Cars, clothes, flashy-but-not-functional houses, etc. are total status plays…Community, health, relationships, land, functional space for hospitality and family life are true wealth indicators.
Don’t use mouthwash - it’s a scam - it kills the microbiome in your mouth and causes more problems longterm.
Don’t use toothpaste with fluoride - it’s a scam too - it’s a neurotoxin.
Don’t be an all-or-nothing kind of guy. You don’t have to get it perfectly right the first time. Just fail faster, learn from it, and keep going.
The culture has taught us to post about and highlight our good works and hide our sins and dysfunction. God and the Bible command the opposite. Share more of your faults and hide more of your good works. You’ll be rewarded by God, and others will relate with you more.
Surround yourself with people who have like values, goals, world-views, belief systems, and pursuits. This is why our mastermind exists inside of SFA - finding these people locally can be really hard these days.
Income is always relative to the value you provide others. Want to make more money? Become more valuable.
Be a fighter. Fight for good, not for evil. Fight for others, not for your own rights. But fight none-the-less.
You could die on the way to work today. Kiss your wife and kids often, tell them you love them as much as you can, show up intentionally every day, and invest time with them.
Use the 321 system for better sleep. No food 3 hours before bedtime. No liquids (besides a few sips of water) 2 hours before bed. No screens and overhead lights 1 hour before bed.
A bonus on the above is to use blue light blocking glasses for 2-3 hours before bedtime.
Take ownership of everything you experience in life. Even if you don’t have full control, you do have full control over how you respond, what you do, and how you adjust.
