I’m often asked, what is the best way to improve efficiency and results in a fitness routine for a busy father.

Most men head into the gym and spend a lot of time on machines, doing lateral raises for their shoulders, bicep curls, tricep extensions, and the like.

From the standpoint of efficiency, these are the worst kinds of things you can do to get fit efficiently.

I can tell you hands down that when a father has access to a barbell and plates, the #1 thing I’ll prescribe is compound movements. (and if a father absolutely can’t do barbell, we’ll do dumbbell)

So let’s talk about what compound movements are, and why if you’re not doing them, you should add them ASAP.
