Many of you might know I was an Army Ranger in a past life. I served on 4 combat tours to Afghanistan, running direct action night raids with the 75th Ranger Regiment.

As a Ranger, you must memorize, recite, internalize, and live out the Ranger Creed.

This creed shapes what you think, and how you act.

I’ve always wanted to revise the creed and apply it to my family and my walk with Jesus. You’ll find below the new version I created and I hope you’ll find it insightful and inspiring, but first, here’s a photo of the original Ranger Creed for reference:

Here’s V1 of The Cirullo Creed:

Recognizing that I have counted the cost of following Jesus, fully knowing the potential hazards of my choice, I will always endeavor to uphold the obedience and fruitfulness required as I pursue a life that honors God.

Acknowledging the fact that a Cirullo has the highest of standards, and arrives at the cutting edge of battle in both the spiritual and the natural, I then accept the fact that as a Cirullo, my God and my family expect me to aim to love deeper, hold fast longer, and fight harder than the members of any other family.

I pray that I never shall fail in my service to God and our family. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong, and morally straight, pursuing personal depth and connection with my Lord Jesus, and I will shoulder more than my share of the tasks at hand, whatever they may be, one hundred percent and then some.

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a well-trained apprentice, ambassador, and soldier. My courtesy and honor to elders, neatness of dress, discipline, devotion, endurance, and stewardship of the resources and time I'm provided shall set an example for others to follow.

Energetically will I meet the enemies of my God through both prayer and action. God and his armies shall defeat the enemy on the field of battle, for He is greater, and in light of this, I will fight with all my might knowing that He has already won. Surrender is not a Cirullo word. I hope to never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy, and under no circumstances will I ever abandon the family mission passed down to me by God himself, through the generations that went before me.

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight the good fight, win the race, go against the current of the world, receive the reward, and hear "well done, good and faithful servant", even if I am the only one who does so.

I hope this inspires you to think of ways you can create creeds, mission statements, written values, vision documents, etc. that can help shape the direction of your family.
