We’re Moving Your Email…

Over the next month, we’ll be moving your email over to our new email service and eventually we’ll be sending the weekly Mission Briefing exclusively from there. So, when you see the new email in the coming weeks, you can do one of the following to ensure you don’t miss it moving forward:

  • Drag the email to primary inbox (Gmail)

  • Add our email address to your contacts

  • Reply to the email (this is the easiest and often automatically adds it to contacts)

And…of course if you don’t see The Mission Briefing over the coming weeks - check your spam and mark it as “not spam” and then do the above steps

Today’s landscape is filled with masculinity conversations.

The explosion of efforts to bolster masculinity in response to the radical woke agenda to destroy any distinction between a man and a woman has been appropriate, but TOTALLY misguided on many fronts.

There is an insane amount of machismo masculinity stirring up in response to the attacks. Podcasts, shows, UFC fanatics, Andrew Tate-types, and YouTube channels are on the rise like never before.

This indicates something really important and we all need to be paying attention.

This is like a homing beacon pointing to the emergency inside the heart of men. Men are waking up and realizing there’s supposed to be more, and now they’re grasping for more. They want something more raw, and real than the typical sterile and neutered fatherhood experience the current age is offering us.

They’re realizing that the ‘wake up, go to work, go home, put the kids to bed, watch Netflix/YouTube/porn so you can live out your adventure in fantasy land, and go to bed’ cycle isn’t the thrilling life to the full that the scriptures seem to describe is in store for them.

In fact, it’s the opposite. It’s killing them.

So they’re taking action to change that.

Here’s the problem…it’s all focused on self.

Becoming more masculine, developing strength, optimizing yourself, fixing your habits, getting disciplined, and living a life of adventure and maybe even danger at times is great…WHEN it’s in service to others.

My buddies at The Viceroy Project explained this perfectly in their recent book:

“The truth is - men perform best when we are spent in honorable service to something higher than ourselves. Only by fighting like maniacs, laying down our lives, and pushing ourselves to the brink for the King can we enjoy the euphoria, the pulse-pounding thrill, of radical obedience. Only when we see scores of other lives transformed by our self-sacrifice - the fruitful yield on the backside of our own small deaths - can we experience true camaraderie with other men. That is the moment when men become alive and connect to their value, purpose, and meaning. The King’s men are looking for a good fight - we just often don’t know where one is to be found.”

This is the what and why behind the idea of being a resilient father.

You don’t need to be fit purely for fitness sake and the sake of self. You don’t need to sleep better purely for the sake of hormone optimization and energy. You don’t need to be a man of the Word and prayer purely so your personal walk with Jesus improves.

You need to do these things (and way more) to become The Resilient Father so that you can answer the call.

As Doug Wilson would say, the call is to take on “the glad assumption of sacrificial responsibility”.

The mantle of leadership is on YOU already. Whether you like it or not. Whether you accept it or not. You, and only you will give an account for how you lived your life and led your family and community.

Today’s podcast episode is for those who have been feeling a stir over recent months and years.

It’s for those sensing that Aslan is on the move.

It’s for those who have been hearing this faint call in their heart that they’ve wanted to respond to, but haven’t yet.

It’s for those who read my words today and felt the conviction to rethink everything and make some major changes, or maybe you’re ready to double down on what’s already in motion…

Whatever it is, make no mistake…you’re being called because you’re one of the King’s men.

You ARE one of the color bearers of The King’s banner and you have a choice to be left standing back at the camp holding His flag in numb complacency never to experience the complete joys of true Biblical Fatherhood - or you can march valiantly alongside the other viceregents, ambassadors, and warriors of the King in this amazing battle that has already been won.
