🧠 Food For Thought:
To achieve something, you must be willing to do what it takes. If you don't want to live the lifestyle required, release yourself from the continued desire for achievement. Craving the result without being willing to enter the process will lead to constant and crippling disappointment.
✍️ Quote Of The Week:
A coach is someone who tells you what you don’t want to hear, who has to see what you don’t want to see, so you can be who you always knew you could be. -Tom Landry
💪 Health & Fitness Tips:
One of the biggest struggles people face when it comes to health and fitness is drumming up the motivation to exercise. There is a long list of ways you can motivate yourself. Here are just a few I have found to be effective for clients:
Designated media - Is there a list of a few audiobooks you've been really looking forward to listening to? A certain podcast you love? Use these things as incentives by only allowing yourself to listen to them if you're actively at the gym working out.
Pre-Envision - Take a few minutes at some point before your workout to imagine the positive impact on your self-esteem, energy levels, shape/size, sense of accomplishment, etc. that will come from your workouts. Basically, think about the future benefits and reasons for following through.
Schedule it like a meeting - You don't skip work meetings that are on the calendar, do you? Talk with a friend who's willing to ask you weekly if you're following through on what you say you're going to do, then put your workouts on your work calendar and add their email to the event for accountability.
📚 Book Recommendation:
Habits of the Household - One of my favorite authors Justin Whitmel Earley, helps you discover simple habits and easy-to-implement daily rhythms that will lead you to find meaning beyond the chaos of family life, small children, and busy schedules.
📱 Social Media Favorites:
I always run my clients through a vision casting process and help them establish their own personal and/or family mission statement. Why do I recommend this process to every father? Because it helps them transition from just exercising, to "training". Nick and Sam discuss this very dynamic in this reel from their podcast episode together.
📋 Here's Your Next Step:
